| 1727 | The Norwich Scholars rang "... a remarkable peal, called the Quarter-peal of Oxford Treble Bob, all eight in, or the Union Bob, consisting of 10,080 changes, in six hours and twenty-eight minutes..." This peal, composed by John Garthon and conducted by Edward Crane, was the first double length peal rung. It was rung at St Michael, Coslany the year after they were augmented to eight. Thomas Gardiner, who rang the fifth, was one of the last of the Norwich founders. He also took part in the first recorded peal at St Peter Mancroft on May 2, 1715. | TB5 |
| 1755 | The Cumberland Youths rang the first peal of Cumberland Pleasure Major on the bells at St Mary, Whitechapel. All details of the method rung have been lost. | CuY24 |
| 1887 | The ringers at Morpeth were evidently Tories, for when an open meeting was held in the Market Place by the Socialists they told some of the audience they would soon stop Mr Fielden's address, and going into the old clock tower began practising! His voice was not equal to the task, and he had to give in. | nv |
| 1888 | The ring of nine bells - an octave plus one half note - at Maryborough, Queensland was opened on this day. The donor of the bells and tower, Mr E T Aldridge, invited the Sidney ringers to open the bells, and paid all their expenses for a week to stay and teach a band of learners. | nv |
| 1893 | A ring of six, made up of three old and three new bells, were dedicated at North Stoneham, Hants. It is now a ring of ten. | nv |
